U.S. men's national team striker Josh Sargent's proposed transfer to German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg has reportedly fallen through, according to The Athletic.
Sargent, 25, has been the subject of transfer speculation all summer, with a move away from English Championship side Norwich City ahead of the 2025-26 season. According to the report, Sargent turned down the opportunity to join Wolfsburg after the two clubs became engaged in conversations.
The U.S. international previously played in the Bundesliga as a teenager, signing his first professional contract with Werder Bremen at 18. He scored 15 goals in 83 appearances across all competitions at Bremen before signing for Norwich, then a Premier League side, in the summer of 2021.
Sargent's contract with Norwich runs through 2028, having last agreed an extension with the club in 2023.
