INEOS have now reportedly tabled an offer to sign an impressive attacking star for Manchester United who’s worth over £85m this month.

Man Utd table offer to sign £85m+ star

Amid all the chaos of their managerial search, Man United still have the January transfer window to contend with. It was the topic of Ruben Amorim’s dismay as he looked for reinforcements and now it’s up to INEOS to continue without their sacked manager, building around whoever they appoint next.

Of course, what makes things difficult is that they may not know who their next permanent manager is until the summer. Recent reports have claimed that the current plan is to appoint a caretaker boss – likely in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – until the end of the season, before then making their move for a more permanent option.

In terms of who that permanent manager could be, the name Luis Enrique emerged earlier this week amid reports that he’s set to leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of his current deal in 2027.

Whilst that’s certainly a long time for those at Old Trafford to wait, they could yet attempt to convince the Spaniard to leave the French side one year early and take on the challenge of rebuilding Man United.

Meanwhile, if it’s not the PSG boss, then it could be Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner. The Austrian is on course to leave the South London club when his contract expires at the end of the season, allowing United to swoop in and land a free deal.

Like many others on the Red Devils’ shortlist, Glasner would benefit from the addition of attacking star Yan Diomande at Old Trafford. According to Caught Offside, Man United have tabled an offer to sign Diomande, but RB Leipzig are not keen to sell up this month and value their star man at around €100m (£87m).

Man Utd should commence new era with Diomande

Under Amorim, the arrival of star wingers rarely made sense. In his 3-4-2-1 system, wide players often found themselves central in one of the two No.10 roles or at wing-back with added defensive responsibility. The likes of Diomande would have been doomed from the start.

Now that they’ve shown their manager the door, however, Man United have the chance to welcome a manager who could take Diomande to the next level.

The 19-year-old is already becoming one to watch in the Bundesliga and has a number of clubs tracking his progress, including United. And if they are to swap to a back four system, which uses wingers, then he should be among their priorities.

With 11 goal involvements in 16 games so far this season, it’s no wonder Leipzig are so keen to keep hold of Diomande, who received high praise from Marcel Schäfer.

The managing director said: “He’s a left winger with outstanding speed, can dribble, is very athletic and can finish. He also never gives up the ball and works for the team. Despite all the excitement, we should give Yan enough time to settle into life in Leipzig and the Bundesliga.”
